First hand “how-to’s”

“In this activity, the patient and I were working vocabulary and turn taking. A tip for parents at home is to remember that vocabulary does not just include labeling and identifying nouns, but understanding and using verbs and other words as well. In this activity they were rolling the blocks so to help her understand the verb “roll.” Parents shouldn’t focus solely on building a vocabulary full of nouns (not to say they aren’t important), but include verbs, prepositions, adjectives, etc. to help broaden their child’s language abilities.” -Miss Schyler

That’s why parent consultations after therapy sessions are so pivotal. Not only is it important to discuss the topics talked about during the session with your children’s Clinician, it’s also important to see what you need to take home with you to ensure the practice is equaling the progress.
